About us

This site is for young people. It aims to support the Communication Centres at schools in the South of Sri Lanka, where Plan has been promoting several special initiatives to support Tsunami affected schools and communities, from children’s books to “letter boxes” to theater plays.

“Youth Reporters” follows the tradition of other Plan’s media programs, which provide children with a platform to express themselves, help provide positive role models and help develop non-technical vocational skills. Plan first began to implement child media programs in the mid 1990s. By enabling their involvement, children are no longer just recipients of development projects but participants.

“The media projects aim to contribute to changing mentalities and behaviour, and the image of children in their community. Children’s voices are and will be heard not only ‘on air’ but also in the decision-making process. Information and participation will in the long run empower children, prevent exploitation and help them become active members of society. All of Plan’s media projects intend to meet these challenges”. (Mimi Brazeau, Media Programs Adviser, Plan West Africa)

No matter if you are involved in the Communication Centres or not, you will find useful sections in this web page. You will find information, games, tuition classes to help you sit for your exams, and so forth. Browse over it!

Grown people are also invited to join us in two special sections for Parents and Teachers.

Welcome!
